The Mexican 'Biofuels Promotion and Development Law', passed in 2008, pushes for the development of biofuels that do not threaten food security. Meanwhile, according to a recent study by GEXSI, Latin American Jatropha cultivation will increase from around 27,000 hectares in 2008 to 1.6 million in 2015.
